Managing Director (MD) of emerging spiritual community in Venice, CA. The MD will work with our Founding Rabbi, Director of Development and Engagement, and the Board to build the operational and development infrastructure for Open Temple. Experience in organizational infrastructure, implementation of strategic plan and development will benefit the ideal candidate in this fast-paced, creative and fun start-up.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Membership
- Develop and execute Open Temple’s membership strategy (to convert participants into Co-Creators/Members)
- Meet annual goals for Co-Creatorship renewal and conversion
- Follow a system for tracking community member engagement (so Open Temple can reach out to and follow up with prospective Co-Creators efficiently, effectively, and consistently
- Oversee Co-Creator registration and renewal processes
- Coordinate with Rabbi and finance committee to establish payment plans when needed
- Development

- Lead OT’s effort to secure a 33/33/33 funding model
- Meet annual goals for fundraising
- Follow a system for tracking donor behavior (engagement, giving, etc.) that supports OT staff in cultivating donors over time
- Nurture relationships with donors at every stage of the donor cycle
- Apply for grants
- Follow up with pledged donations to ensure that OT receives promised funds
- Internal Operations and Management
- Facilitate staff meetings
- Hold regular executive meetings with the Rabbi and implement what is agreed on during meetings
- Delegate tasks to appropriate staff
- Project management: monitor staff progress on projects
- Implement systems to support efficient day-to-day operations at Open Temple. This includes systems to:
- Maximize CRM data for community organizing, donor cultivation, and grant writing
- Ensure regular/consistent/predictable marketing timelines
- Ensure website is updated
- Human Resources
- Implement the human resources policies, procedures and practices, including an Open Temple Employee Handbook
- Craft job descriptions with Rabbi and support hiring processes
- Support Rabbi in creating the process for performance reviews and at the reviews when appropriate
- Ensure that all new staff and contractors receive an orientation to the organization and appropriate training in accordance with Open Temple’s mission
- Create Letters of Agreement for contractors and track receipt of signed LOAs
- Send W9s to new musicians contractors and track their receipt
