Summary
Heschel is a dynamic transitional kindergarten through eighth grade educational community grounded in the Jewish values of community, citizenship, and service. Since its founding in 1972, the leadership, administration, and community at Heschel have established and continued the foundations of a culture of philanthropy that helps us continue to be a dynamic school: a place of academic strength, Jewish values, warmth, and wonder.
The Director of Marketing and Communications will provide the overall vision, leadership, and direction for Heschel’s marketing and communications efforts. They will immerse themself into the life of the school to showcase and elevate our community to and for all of our stakeholders. An ideal candidate will demonstrate a depth of knowledge about Jewish culture, traditions, and community dynamics.

Specific Responsibilities
● Serve as a key ambassador for the school, collaborate with the School’s administrative team, faculty and staff, Board of Directors, Parent Organization, and current families, to develop and execute initiatives and meet the school’s strategic goals.
● Manage and monitor the school’s web page and the school’s social media strategy and accounts (including Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn)
● Produce and manage all communication materials and graphic designs for print and web, including, but not limited to summer mailings, weekly newsletters, school swag, event invitations and emails, the Annual Report, Strategic Plans, collateral for Advancement and Admissions initiatives, and the Annual Gala
● Oversee and manage all event collateral and event production for major school events such as Graduation, Generations Days, and Jewish holidays.
● Lead content creation and distribution for school communications, including newsletters, grade-level updates, and emergency notifications.
● Liaise with outside vendors for advertising purposes (magazines, street banners)
● Oversee all school photography and videography content in order to document and archive campus activities and events, for use now and in the future.
● Manage school photo days
● Maintain and implement the school’s Brand Guide, using consistent standards in all publications and templates, ensuring a consistent message and voice that aligns with the school’s mission and Jewish values.
Skills and Qualifications
An ideal candidate has a minimum Bachelor’s Degree or a Master’s Degree in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Media Studies, Communications, or a related field, and has Independent school/nonprofit experience, with five to ten years of marketing or communications experience.

● A collaborative team approach with colleagues and a willingness to take on responsibilities beyond those explicitly defined
● A customer-service oriented mentality with a high level of discretion and confidentiality when dealing with internal and external information not limited to personnel, school, student and community matters.
Writing
● Excellent written communication skills and a substantial knowledge base regarding Jewish community perspectives, values, and experiences.
● Strong attention to detail and the ability to adapt to different voices/styles.
Technology
● Proficiency in modern office tools (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, etc.).
● Proficiency with CRM and student information systems (Blackbaud experience preferred).
● Expertise in email marketing platforms (e.g., Campaign Monitor).
● Experience with website management platforms (e.g., Finalsite).
● Competence in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro).
● Photography and videography skills are highly desirable, as well as editing pictures and videos.
● Knowledge of digital advertising and analytics tools (Google Ads, Meta Ads, Google Analytics 4).
● Basic understanding of HTML/CSS and form-building tools (e.g., Jotform).
● Experience with digital photography, graphic design, and video production
