Summary
Heschel is a dynamic transitional kindergarten through eighth grade educational community grounded in the Jewish values of community, citizenship, and service. Since its founding in 1972, the leadership, administration, and community at Heschel have established and continued the foundations of a culture of philanthropy that helps us continue to be a dynamic school: a place of academic strength, Jewish values, warmth, and wonder.
The Communications and Events Associate is part of Heschel’s Marketing Team. The Associate’s job is to support Heschel’s strategic marketing plan, oversee school events, provide support to the main office, and help foster the school’s vision and mission through creativity, collaboration, and commitment. They will immerse themself into the life of the school to showcase and elevate our community to and for all of our stakeholders. An ideal candidate will demonstrate a depth of knowledge about Jewish culture, traditions, and community dynamics.

Specific Responsibilities
An ideal candidate has at least 2 years of demonstrated experience, ideally working in a school and/or nonprofit, a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, creative writing, or a related field.
Communications Responsibilities:
● In collaboration with the Director of Marketing and Communications, streamline internal and external communications through email, mailings, and newsletters
● Dynamic, create, and innovative thinker
● Assist the marketing team with website management, social media content, graphic design, and print/digital marketing materials that reflect the school’s values and culture
● Support the marketing team by assisting with school photography and videography content in order to document and archive campus activities and events, for use now and in the future
● Excellent written communication skills and a substantial knowledge base regarding Jewish community perspectives, values, and experiences
● Strong attention to detail and the ability to adapt to different voices/styles
● Stellar organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously
● Familiarity with Google Workspace for Education, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, a working knowledge of image and file formats, CRMs commonly used by not-for-profit organizations (Blackbaud); and a working knowledge of CSM web tools, student information systems, browsers, and other technologies
Events Responsibilities:
● Oversee all school events (on and off campus) including open houses, fundraisers, Jewish holiday celebrations, and community gatherings in collaboration with different departments or the Parent Organization
● Coordination of all event logistics, including, but not limited to facility reservations, ordering food, supplies and decorations, set-up and clean-up, and guiding volunteers
● Create all event collateral including, but not limited to the invitation, JotForm, printed materials, and along with the Director of Marketing and Communications, schedule all marketing of events
Shared Office Responsibilities:
● Act as part of the main office staff that represents a welcoming and customer service oriented mindset
● Display a high level of discretion and confidentiality when dealing with internal and external information not limited to personnel, school, student and community matters
● Assist Faculty and Staff as needed and be a collaborative, team player
● Answer phones when necessary
