Marlee Goldshine, MA Jewish Nonprofit Management ‘21, recently began her new role as Program Manager, Wellness Initiatives at the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles. Some of the initiatives she focuses on, such as Orot: Center for New Jewish Learning Peaceful Parenting Project, Guided Meditation and Reflections for parents of teens, and teen programming, relate to her experience in the Zelikow School of Jewish Nonprofit Management.
She frequently thinks about the human-centered Design Thinking boot camp and utilizes a spreadsheet made in the program to track programs, collaborations, and partnerships. In her two internships, most recently with JQ International, Marlee got hands-on experience in fundraising and can apply her work with teens to her current role. She also values the network from Zschool – professors, classmates, alumni – and finds these connections to be very helpful.
Marlee has fond Zschool memories. She became best friends with classmate and Capstone partner Rachael Cohen ‘21. Together, they researched how older adult Angelinos observe Shabbat. Other memories include Wacky Wednesdays, when students visited organizations around Los Angeles, and weekly Shabbat cohort dinners before the pandemic.
Marlee shared, “Mandi Richardson (Associate Director of the Zelikow School of Nonprofit Management), Erik Ludwig (Director of the Zelikow School of Nonprofit Management), and Melissa Gerai (Manager of Advancement and Program Services Zelikow School of Jewish Nonprofit Management) are the best. The Zschool team is amazing. I also loved the pluralistic aspect – it’s a school within the Reform movement that is not Reform and attracts people of really diverse experiences. That stood out to me and positively impacted my experience and connections.”
Keep doing amazing things, Marlee!
