Scholarships & Financial Aid

Cost shouldn't be a limiting factor for your education. Zschool provides generous scholarships.

Students enrolled in the  MAJNM or MSOLI programs typically receive financial aid packages—combining merit-based scholarships, need-based assistance, and employer and community support—that cover between 40% and 100% of tuition.

Merit-Based Scholarships

Each year, Zschool awards a limited number of merit-based scholarships to exceptional applicants. These awards recognize academic achievement, leadership, and potential to make an impact in the Jewish community.

No separate application is required—your Zschool admissions application also serves as your application for merit-based scholarships. Merit aid is considered after need-based and external funding sources.

Need-Based Financial Aid

We’re committed to making education accessible and affordable through need-based financial aid, available to eligible students in all Zschool programs. These awards are determined by demonstrated financial need and can significantly reduce the cost of attendance.

We know that completing the FAFSA (or CSS Profile for international students) can feel like a lot—but for many of our students, the financial support they unlock through need-based aid, merit scholarships, and community or employer matching makes the effort well worth it.

To be considered for need-based aid:

  • U.S. citizens and permanent residents: Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
    HUC-JIR FAFSA School Code: G04054
  • International students: Complete the CSS Profile through the College Board
HUC-JIR CSS Profile Code: 1344 Hebrew Union College -JIR (CA)

We recommend submitting your financial aid materials early to receive full consideration.

Employer and Community Support

Many of our students receive support from their employers, sponsoring institutions, or local communities. We encourage you to speak with your synagogue, school, or organization about tuition assistance.

Jewish professionals applying to MAJNM or MSOLI may receive up to a combined  100% in financial aid for their education at the Zschool when their Jewish Nonprofit employer participates in our employer matching scholarship program.

To initiate a discussion about how employer matching works, please contact Melissa Garai before submitting an application to the Zschool.

Important: You must inform us of your employer’s willingness to participate in this program before your admission interview.

Midcareer Fellowship

Interested midcareer Jewish professionals applying to MAJNM or MSOLI who qualify can receive up to a combined  100% in financial aid for their education at the Zschool.

Fellowships are awarded to qualified students on a first-come, first served basis. These Fellowships are made possible with the support of a generous outside donor.

The Midcareer Fellowship offers participants:

MIDCAREER FELLOWSHIP Eligibility Requirements

  • Completed your undergraduate degree at least five years ago

  • Have served the Jewish community professionally for a minimum of three years

  • Work at a Jewish institution for a minimum of 15 hours per week while pursuing your degree
