Zelikow School Director’s Townhall Invite

Dear

We are excited for your candidacy and interest in coming to the Zelikow School of Jewish Nonprofit Management.

I am writing to share that in response to the ongoing uncertainty in our ability to travel and gather during the pandemic, we have made the decision to move to virtual instruction for the Zelikow School’s Summer Session 2021. While it is disappointing not to be able to gather together on campus this summer, it is a decision made to provide ample time for students to prepare accordingly and to prioritize the health and well-being of our campus community.
We know that you are likely to have questions about how the shift to virtual instruction will impact our summer schedule. We are currently developing a revised schedule and we ask that, for now, you maintain the same availability for the Zelikow School’s virtual experience as you would have if we were meeting on campus.

The challenge of multiple time zones will require that some students attend classes and programs at unusual hours. However, as a point of clarification, we would not ask students to participate in classes or programs during Shabbat.

We will be holding a townhall meeting on Tuesday, March 16 at 8:00AM pacific time to update you on the summer program, registration, and allow for a bit of in person Q&A. A Zoom link will go out closer to the date, but please be in touch if you have any questions that need answering sooner.

I am proud that when our alumni share their experience of learning at the Zelikow School they often speak of the ethic of care we maintain for our students. These are unprecedented times and they require we show radical empathy, innovate new ways of connecting, and lead creatively as we shape and redefine the boundaries of community—this is what our curriculum is intended to teach and what we believe is needed to lead the business of Jewish life.

It is my pleasure to invite you to join us for the townhall meeting.
Shabbat shalom,

Erik

P.S. For those who might be attending another educational program on the LA Campus, please know that the determination to shift to a virtual format for summer is program specific.
