Position Overview
We are seeking a high-caliber, experienced, mid-level professional to step into the role of Associate Director of Development. This is a position for a bright, talented, and highly driven individual who is eager to take on organizational responsibility of a year-round fundraising engine.
The Associate Director of Development will be responsible for co-creating and driving the organization’s fundraising strategy, systems, and execution.
Working in close collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer, this role is expected to help lead and grow Lost Tribe’s development work, ensuring strong infrastructure, clear strategy, and consistent growth across all channels.
This role is focused heavily on the architecture, driving, and tracking of our development initiatives. You will oversee critical metrics, support donor pipelines, research prospective donors, and maintain momentum on Lost Tribe’s capacity campaign. You are the critical engine driving the operational execution, stewarding of relationships, and managing pipelines to move our fundraising goals forward.
Key Responsibilities
1. Stewardship & Pipeline Management
- Active weekly portfolio review and moves management: Act as the primary champion of donor stewardship by kicking off every week evaluating our top ~50 individual and institutional donors. Own the management of regular touchpoints by members of the FRD team, ensuring consistent momentum for key stakeholders
- Campaign & Event Execution: Drive the progress of our current Capacity Campaign and lead the logistical planning, execution, and momentum for campaign events
- Pipeline Accountability: Ensure all active donor asks, cultivation milestones, and follow-ups across the executive leadership team and Board remain meticulously on track
2. Institutional Funder Management
- Relationships: Help shape and actively execute Lost Tribe’s institutional funder roadmap, in a supporting role and in close partnership with the CEO
- Long-Term Cultivation: Conduct research on upcoming funding opportunities for potential foundation partners to systematically lay the groundwork for expanded institutional funding
- Departmental Opportunities: Work with Lost Tribe’s Content and Tech & Innovation teams to identify institutional funding opportunities that are good matches for Lost Tribe’s work
3. Individual Donor Management
- Targeted Research: Identify and research prospective major donors, specifically looking within the networks of current supporters and identifying individuals whose philanthropic profiles align with youth development, young adults, digital tech/outreach, Israel-Diaspora bonds, and fighting antisemitism
- Solicitations: Maintain a portfolio of grassroots and/or mid-level donors, including prospecting, cultivating, stewardship and solicitation
4. Data Integrity & Reporting
- Set Goals: Establish clear metrics, tracking, and accountability across all fundraising efforts
- Performance Tracking: Maintain ownership of Lost Tribe’s most critical fundraising data, tracking realized performance directly against goals
- Development Operations
- Database Management: Maintain and update Lost Tribe’s CRM (Bloomerang)
- Gift Acknowledgment: Ensure timely and appropriate acknowledgment of all donations to Lost Tribe
- Board Support: Support the CEO in preparing materials and reports for Board meetings
- Development Communications: In coordination with Marketing department, ensure timely and professional correspondence with current and prospective donors
Qualifications & Skills

- Experience: Demonstrated professional track record in non-profit fundraising or development operations, ideally at least 3-5 years of experience in development or an aligned field
- Mission Alignment: A strong understanding of or passion for the Jewish community ecosystem, youth engagement, and digital community building is preferred
- Operational Drive: Highly ambitious with an innate ability to take meaningful, proactive ownership of projects rather than waiting for top-down direction
- Takes Initiative: Comfortable proactively identifying and gathering relevant data from colleagues and supporting stewardship efforts on an ongoing basis
- Data & Systems Savvy: Competent in data analysis, performance tracking, and leveraging data from a CRM
- Growth Mindset: This position has great capacity to evolve as the development function at Lost Tribe grows
- Proactivity: Ability to operate proactively with strong judgment, prioritization, and decision-making skills, acting independently when appropriate and seeking input and guidance when needed
- Communication Skills: Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
- Agility: Comfort working in a growing organization and building systems that may not yet exist
- Travel: Occasional travel needed, including for two in-person staff retreats per year and in support of development events.
